Since Coji was nine, he has always been passionate about the environment and sustainable living, which began due to his love of animals.
However, Coji noticed that many young people were uninformed on matters such as habitat destruction, the extinction of species, and the degradation of the environment, all of which is linked to climate change. It was then that he was determined to make a difference.
Coji also wanted to make young people aware of the beauty of nature and how to preserve it. Sri Lanka is an island nation, and each year, the country disposes of 1.5 million tonnes of plastic into the ocean. Coji believes that a lack of awareness about single-use plastic’s environmental damage is at the root of this problem.
Therefore, in 2023, when he was 16, he launched the project Cee Green, a testament to his commitment to improving both the plight of the environment and the community, with the primary target audience being the children and youth residing in Sri Lanka.
